The Last Winter Poppies

Poppies
Watercolor in Handmade Paper Journal

This is the last entree in the last signature of my handmade paper journal. I have been working in this journal all winter and enjoyed this wonderful paper and how it takes the ink from my Lami pen and watercolor. Now all that is left to do is to finish stitching and adding it to the other signatures in my journal. Then it will be closed and placed on the book shelf with all the other journals only to be looked at (probably) when my children go through my things for the garage sale when I am moved into that old folks home or after I die. That sound a little too honest for the light of day but I am afraid it is the truth. How many of you artists out there in Virtual Blogland, that make journals, actually share your drawings with real live people?

Love all your work, but I have to say these happy poppies, and the poppies and roses are awesome.

Wow! This is awesome, Pat!!! Everything you've done on your hand made paper looks fantastic!!! Too fantastic to be depressed by these types of thoughts! The main thing is what you manage to create, whether it be enjoyed by 1 or by 1000 people. I know internet is far from perfect but at least it gives me the chance to see what you've created and this is great. And you can see what I've made, we can share our views on each other's sketches and paintings and this is almost too incredible to be true with all those kms in between us!

Pat, I'll eat my hat if future generations of your family don't gasp in delight when they open those journals.

It must be a wonderful sense of achievement to finish a journal like this. I remember every beautiful page :)

By the way, this image opened immediately and it was such a treat to be able to navigate around all the details of the picture, so don't reduce the size of your files, at least until we work out if it's a common problem.

You have a so great journal.
I am absolutely with you about the future of our journals. But I can not stop drawing, the pleasure of the process overcome the fear of being neglected.

This is gorgeous, Pat! Love it!
I agree with Cathy. Your work is too beautiful to get depressed. You share your wonderful paintings with us and we enjoy visiting your blog to see your art, so, who cares what happens in 50 year's time?. The important thing is that you create and we love your artwork. We are very fortunate to share our art with other sensitive artists. Seize the day Pat! Everything that exists in the present is HERE! Hugs

Hey, I'm a real live people! I've so enjoyed your paintings and sketches in this beautiful journal, as I know many more will in the future. Im ashamed at the casual way I regarded my mom's art as a young person (as my kids do mine!), now... each one discovered over the years becomes an absolute treasure.
