Roses and Poppies
Watercolor on Paper
I worked in my garden for a few hours mostly chopping back the undergrowth. It has been a week since I have been able to weed and they have taken over. I am always so surprised to see how fast things change. I usually spend a little time in my garden everyday but with the other things that are going on I have neglected the weeds and they have taken advantage. After filling my compost piles to the brim I came across this collection of mingled roses and poppies and that was it. I stopped to paint and take a break. The poppies are almost gone. I love my poppies. People ask me, 'What is my favorite flower?’ I always say the one that is blooming of course.

I think whatever's blooming in your garden are my favourites too! These are beautiful and the painting, especially the wet-in-wet, works perfectly. Is that bluey green perylene?
Les coquelicots sont beaux et nous les aimons aussi parce qu'ils font partie de ces fleur éphémères comme les pivoines... Belle harmonie de couleurs...
This is absolutely goregous! It is bursting with color! I'm so glad that I found this today.
When the painting urge comes.... the weeds can wait!
Woow!! They are gorgeous Pat! This is a wonderful painting, full of life and joy.
absolutely GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, weeds have been having a time with all our rai -- BUT, roundup WILL prevail! GREAT painting, Pat! LOVE IT!!
Pat, I've been trying to get this image to load all day because I knew I was only a click away from a generous size picture. It was worth it! You always seem to have another facet of your skill to pull out of the hat. Such beautiful use of watercolour and the poppy is particularly stunning.
