CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING

It has been a productive class, full of learning, laughing and of course food. Here is Lillian's work of art from the Chinese Brush painting class on Mondays. Congratulations on a wonderful painting.

Different Strokes From Different Folks

Here is the painting for the Different Strokes From Different Folks art challenge at DSFDF . The real challenge for me was getting it into the email with the right dpi and resolution. I will count this as a learning curve and try again next time.

PALETTE

Here is the palette you have asked me about. It is small and I cleaned it up a little. I have others but this is the one I usually use.

These are the last few days of paintings and drawings. It is finally spring with cool mornings and clear warm evenings. It's light longer and when I get up in the morning it is still dark. I love seeing the sun rise. The light is different and always surprises me. I have been getting ready for the summer.
Sunrise is always an inchanting time for me. I have sketched this hill many times. It changes from morning, afternoon, evening, summer, spring, winter and fall.

Breakfast at Panera, coffe and a egg sandwich. Time to sketch and time to watch people.

While waiting for school to get out I sketched this side mirror view of the car behind me.

LA Sunrise on the 105 FRWY

Here are some of the snapshots I took while driving home from the LA Airport. The sun was taking bites out of everything and I had to capture the morning. The Photoshop images came from these and other photos. I enjoy using the tools to distort the images.
What do you think? Please leave a comment.

View of LA from Brea, California

I spent a little time with the clouds. It's quiet a study in skill and seeing.

EUCALYPTUS at SUNRISE

This photo came from my early morning walk (hobble), I still am having trouble with my foot. When it started to rain I came back in and played with Photoshop. I love where the light is taking bites out of the trunks. This stand of eucalyptus will be a great painting site to take my class next Wednesday.

NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE #111

This is a friends house. I sketched while I was waiting for her to get ready. I added color while waiting to pick someone else up. This has been a waiting day.

This outing was a welcome change to my backyard and four walls. My injured foot is getting better.
I sketched and painted for a few hours and now I feel better.

WASHINGTON VACATION

It's cold and dark outside and I am still getting over my sprained foot so I thought I would spend some time on the computer and post these sketches from the Washington trip at John's house during Thanksgiving. Oh, the sun came out. Gotta Go. I can still hobble to a chair outside and sketch.

SWEET ROSE THE PIT BULL

This is sweet Rose. She was helping me draw the landscape outside the living room window. So I had to sketch her.

While everyone else was relaxing, playing or eating somemore I selfishly took time to draw.

WASHINGTION VACATION

This area was hills and pine trees. Some snow and some grass.

PORTRAIT OF SAM

This portrait of Sam took many days because he just won't let you look him in the eyes. Well that isn't exactly true. He won't let you look him in the eyes without head butting you.

WALKING TRAIL

Thanks for all your comments and support. Usually my art is a private and solitary thing. Not anymore. I walk this trail with Ivy every week and took the time to sketch it so I can share this peaceful place.

FOGGY MORNING

This was a great morning for walking, as long as I stayed off the road. The fog changed everything to a wonderland of glow and defused morning light.

ANAHIEM HILLS

It's been raining here and I have had to draw from my car while waiting for my grandson to get out of school. I love the quiet time. The houses that are tucked in here and there would add a nice color note if I ever paint this.

COMPUTER AND PHOTOSHOPED

This is a landscape abstract taken from the San Juan Capo painting day. Just playing with the pictures, color, contrast, form and line helps me see it in different ways. When I paint outside it takes courage to mess up a piece of paper to try out new colors or forms but with Photoshop I can play away.
