Before the rain

Landscape
Watercolor on paper

The rain is coming so I took sometime this afternoon to walk the skyline trail and then to sketch a beautiful view of Newport Fashion Island, a shopping center near the California coast. I could see the clouds forming as I was sketching and then when I started to paint they became darker and darker. I just love to watch nature happening.

This is exquisite, Pat! And this was all done en plein air? Even more impressive.

Hey,

I was not aware that you teach landscape art or that you teach drawing and painting. I never noticed any mention of that on your posts. I saw you listed on that new landscape art blog under tutors. Good for you!

Oh Pat, you can imagine my delight when I clicked on your sketch and was transported into your huge landscape. Absolutely gorgeous. I love the colours in the tree trunk, the foliage, the composition... well everything actually.

Fashion Island - does one have to be well-dressed to go ashore?

Just realised why I love it too much - that's a gum tree!
