Eucalyptus

This is the eucalyptus that I have painted and sketched many times before and Ivy and I walk by every morning. Today I noticed this huge branch had broken and fallen probably during the night. Euc's do that, drop branches, that is, and when they fall there is a loud crack and then the branch comes crashing down. This particular spot is very good for dogs to sniff for long minutes on end. What if we would have been standing there when it decided to fall?

Really nice textures on that tree!

I've heard them called "widowmakers" For that reason - that they just drop branches. We've been having that problem with some of the older oak trees around here.
