Lisbon, Portugal

This is my The Virtual Paintout challenge contribution for Bill Guffey's blog site. If you haven't tried this, well you just have to. I don't usually paint from pictures because when I see the picture it feels like it has all ready been done and then I lose interest in painting it. But for the challenge I did. I of course don't feel I did the picture justice but I took up the challenge and painted it just as I saw it. The address is, Travessa do Paraiso, Lisbon, 1100, Portugal.  Look it up on Google Maps and take a look.

I am so fascinated that you can just grab the little yellow guy (in Googlemaps) drag him to any blue highlighted street and Google will provide, for you, an eye level street photograph of anywhere in the world. Well almost anywhere. I feel like I have actually been to these far off places, instead, as my brother-in-law brought to my attention that I was only there virtually.

This is fabulous and I'm so glad that you've shared it. I've read a bit on Bill's site and I too am quite interested in the idea of painting virtually rather than on location -- just more possible for me at this point in time. I saw the announcement featuring Lisbon for September, but I've got my fingers in enough at the moment with the Imaginary trip to Paris class. But, I'll remember your painting and look up this address when I have some time to paint something it...

Even though you didn't walk down this street - you've created a beautiful image!

Oh Pat, you found a great street scene and did it beautiful justice - what a lovely painting! I also like the idea of a common challenge, but many different views instead of lots of versions of the same thing. This is armchair travelling at its best isn't it!

Outstanding, Pat, as usual! If you didn't tell anyone it was done virtually they would think you were there! Love those blue skies!
